I am, and forever shall be, in support of developers opening up tournaments to the public so anyone can cash in their skills and earn some extra cash, and now PUBG is advancing their Brazil Open as the top 32 teams are locked in and ready to duke it out.

Since March, teams across the world have been battling online in the PMGO Open Qualifier to book their place in the tournament proper to get their hands on a piece of the $500,000.00 prize pot, and now we have landed at the big time. The last hurdle to the Prelims begins this weekend with the close of the Offline Qualifier.

The qualifying team will be split down into two sets, Group A and Group B, with any maths wizz being able to confirm is 16 apiece. Big names including Vampire Esports, Nigma Galaxy, Fireflux, and D’Xavier Esports will all be in attendance and hoping to grab one of the nine spots available in their group.

On March 30th, Teams will be ranked based on points garnered from placements and eliminations, and whilst these two do tend to correlate we could still get some upsets. Someone who hides and then pops out to claim the win with one kill could be eliminated over someone who gets eliminated eighth but racked up a dozen kills. It’ll be interesting to see how teams game the system.

When the dust settles, first place will be able to kick their feet up and cruise through to the Main Event, whereas places 2nd to 9th will advance to the PMGO Prelims, taking place April 1st to 3rd. This is the last chance saloon, with these teams butted heads with top squads from the Partnership Program to make it to the final.

PUBG Mobile is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
