Joe Dever’s Lone Wolf revisited the classic ‘80s gamebook genre, adding a new action twist with its quick-time event battle system. As of today, the second act of the game’s four part season ha become available. To celebrate this, you can currently download the first part for free.

Act Two of Joe Dever's Lone Wolf - which is titled Forest Hunt - moves the story to the Sunken Forest as you continue your journey through the Kingdom of Sommerlund. It brings with it a host of new choices and 3D locations in your ongoing battle against the Darklords of Helgedad.

Forest Hunt also introduces a new enemy: The Gourgaz. THis is one of Joe Dever’s more iconic monsters, whom you will have to battle in order to safely make your way out of the Sunken Forest.

We had mixed feelings about Act 1 when it was released back in November. While the story was entertaining, the game’s QTE combat system frustrated us, frequently upsetting the flow of battle, and, by extension, how our story unfolded.

You can grab the first act of Joe Dever's Lone Wolf for free on the App Store now. If you enjoy it, then Act 2 can be purchased in-app for £2.99 / $4.99.
