Sci-fi roguelike Star Command has just been given a price cut of galactic proportions on the App Store.

Warballoon makes no secret of its Star Trek inspiration for this explorative space adventure. You take command of a starship filled with red, blue, and yellow shirt wearing crew, which you must then guide through the cosmos in search of new life and civilisations.

Never certain whether the next species you encounter will be friend or foe you must always be at the ready. Upgrading your ship and its crew will ensure you are prepared for everything the universe could throw at you. This only works if you fortify the right part of your ship, however, as powerful cannons are useless if you crew are already dead from a shield failure.

We were impressed with Star Command’s challenging roguelike gameplay when it was released last year. At its current price of 69p / 99c, down from £1.99 / $2.99, its certainly worth a quick probe if you haven’t already explored it.

Has the potential to be on par with FTL with the right updates...I say on par., NOT better.

yes its so repetitive, but has lots of potential, wish there were more weapons to use with different mini games.

A price drop is nice, but updates are even nicer. ;-;

One of the most boring games I ever played.
Even for 99c

It was rather entertaining for a while, actually. If I'd go back to it now, I might enjoy it for a couple of hours before getting bored again.
