Sega’s spiky blue hero is about to make yet another journey to the App Store, in upcoming free-to-play leaper Sonic Jump Fever.

In fact, Sonic Jump Fever is a revamp of the 2012 game Sonic Jump, which thrust the speedy hedgehog into vertical leaping levels akin to Doodle Jump.

This new free-to-play take on the concept has you focus on leaderboards and score attacks. You must race against the clock to scale each level's dizzying heights - collecting coins along the way - as you try and beat your friends' highscores, and compete on the Game Center leaderboards.

It is free-to-play of course, so you can expect plenty of purchasables to help your ascent. We just hope that this won't turn the game into a pay-to-win affair, as there is nothing worse than trying to beat your friend's high-score when they have dropped half their paycheck on rocket boots.

Sonic Jump Fever is landing on the App Store on the 10th, where you will be able to download it for free.
