Volcano Planet is an action game that has players trying to save aliens from their now volcanic and soon exploding planet. Players must spin the planet surface and tap the erupting volcanos in order to suppress them long enough to evacuate the alien race.

The controls are simple and work fine. You spin the planet by flicking the screen in different directions and tap the top of the erupting volcanos to delay them and the inevitable explosion. Players can also use different carbon suppressants to relieve the pressure building under the planet's surface.

The visuals are well presented in 3D, and the light effects from the exploding volcanos are particularly well done. The sound is good but somewhat odd. Different notes are played each time a volcano is put out and once you reach game over, those notes are played again in a musical sequence for your enjoyment. While there is only one game mode, players have the option to post highscores up to the leaderboards.

Volcano Planet is an interesting game to say the least. While the game brings a cool new concept and great visuals to the iPhone, nothing truly amazing stands out. The gameplay is still fun and immersive, but can get a bit repetitive and tedious after a while. However, if you’re more of the casual gamer, playing every so often, then this could be right up your alley.
