Hands-on with Daytona Rush, the endless racer that goes round and round and round and round and

So far I've enjoyed my time with this early version of Daytona Rush. A colourful and chunky endless racer, Daytona Rush mostly has you zipping between three lanes, trying to avoid the heavily congested tracks, all the while keeping an eye on your fuel gauge and pitting into a fourth lane to resupply. The game's out shortly, here's an early look...…

Porsche Cayman GT4 performs a 1080 donut wheelspin onto Real Racing 3. That's a thing, right?

Porsche Cayman GT4 performs a 1080 donut wheelspin onto Real Racing 3. That's a thing, right?

Joining Real Racing 3's already overflowing roster of 4-wheeled contraptions known as cars comes the Porsche Cayman GT4. Aspiring petrolheads can win themselves a virtual version of the roadster by completing a set of in-game events, thereby appeasing the digital overlords. You can see the canary yellow beauty in action below. As far as I'm concerned, that is the only colour it should be available in. [App Store link]…

Hands-on with Cava Racing, the upcoming futuristic racer with a whole lot of potential

Hands-on with Cava Racing, the upcoming futuristic racer with a whole lot of potential

Cava Racing is gorgeous, there's no denying that - just hit play on the video below and you'll see. And when in a slower vehicle, the long sweeping corners and chicanes are extremely satisfying to weave through. Things get a little hair-raising when you step things up a gear though, and that needs to be worked out before launch. Luckily though, that may well not be for some time, as Cava Racing is currently very much in development, so there's still plenty of time to make the necessary tweaks.…

Hands-on with Fast & Furious: Legacy, Kabam's new drift and drag racer

Fast & Furious: Legacy is currently in soft-launch in Denmark, and since the original game was so gosh darn popular I simply had to go see if this new one is up to the same standard of the series. It's certainly well within Kabam's wheelhouse: a drag and drift racer with some auto-runner elements included for good measure too. Here's how it looks, if you have a Danish account you can grab it from the link under the video. [App Store link]…

Hands-on with What on Earth!, where Trials meets LittleBigPlanet in a most spectacular fashion

Hands-on with What on Earth!, where Trials meets LittleBigPlanet in a most spectacular fashion

… and if that headline didn't grab your attention, I don't know what will. Traplight Games has combined the world creation of Media Molecule's finest hour with the very best that RedLynx has to offer, and created something unique, something all of its own. I was super excited to see What on Earth! at Pocket Gamer Connects, and I'm really pumped for the soft-launch, which should be available very shortly.…

Hands-on with Drift 84, the top-down racer that's just about to slide onto iOS and Android

Drift 84 is all about the drift, as you might expect. Whipping around corners at full tilt, slinging the back end out, and earning bonuses for looking so flipping awesome. It's pretty cool, and after we saw it at Pocket Gamer Connects, we had to bring you this hands-on video.…

Hands-on with Wheel & Deal, the neon-drenched car chase arena shooter

Pink neon, an eighties soundtrack, shooting at endless cops, game changing power ups, and huge amounts of overdrive: that's Wheel & Deal is all about. It's an arena shooter of sorts, albeit with some car chase mechanics thrown in there too, plus presentation that is equal parts Miami Vice and Tron. Wheel & Deal will be available 22nd January on iOS at an initial launch price of $1.99 / £1.49, here's what it looks like in motion.…

Hands-on with Need For Speed: No Limits, or 'what the Real Racing 3 team did next'

Hands-on with Need For Speed: No Limits, or 'what the Real Racing 3 team did next'

As a fan of Real Racing 3, my interest was really piqued in Need For Speed: No Limits when I heard they'd gotten involved with the project. How would a race sim maker transition into making a more arcade-oriented title? Luckily I didn't have long to wait to find out, as the title has just now appeared on the App Store. Need For Speed: No Limits is currently in soft-launch in Taiwan, and the video below is from that version of the game. If you're interested in playing it for yourself, the link for which is underneath our hands-on video. [App Store link]…

Touch Racing 2 has had a silly amount of downloads on iOS, and it's now out on Android too

Touch Racing 2 has had a silly amount of downloads on iOS, and it's now out on Android too

Touch Racing 2 has had 2 million downloads on iOS. That's a lot of downloads. Which is fair enough, because the game's pretty darn solid. There are loads of modes and tracks, tons of upgrades and cosmetic tweaks, and strong touch-based controls - all of which you can see in our hands-on video of an earlier iOS build. Fancy taking Touch Racing 2 out for a spin? Grab it via the links below the trailer. [App Store link][Google Play link]  …

Hands-on with Proun+, the frantic and flipping fast futurist racer

Hands-on with Proun+, the frantic and flipping fast futurist racer

Proun+ is really fast. Really really fast. “Just how fast is 'really fast'?”, you ask. Ridiculously so, I respond. It also sports a fetching Futurist look, and though its art style occasionally gets in the way of the gameplay, it's quite beautiful in motion. Click play on the video below to see how I got on with it.…

Here's a sneak peek at upcoming EA Mobile racer Need for Speed No Limits

Here's a sneak peek at upcoming EA Mobile racer Need for Speed No Limits

EA Mobile has announced that it's releasing a brand new mobile Need For Speed 'soon'. That means you can quite safely expect it to look great, play okay, and require much tilting of your respective devices as you drive at dangerous speeds in an urban environment. The game is, rather unsurprisingly, in development by Firemonkeys - famed for releasing one of the most expensive free games to hit a mobile device ever - Real Racing 3. If you're feeling the need for speed yourself, why not watch the ridiculous trailer in which Ken Block does what he does best - driving a car really, really fast.…

Road Racer trailer shows Android hill climber's core gameplay, early access alpha available now

Blue River Arts has just popped over a trailer for its new Android racing game Road Racer. In it you can see the low poly art style and bright colour palette, as well as the fundamentals of what you'll be doing in the game moment to moment. A hill climber, it's your job to drive up extremely steep hills as quickly as you possibly can, throwing in a few tricks here and there for good measure. There's an infinite number of courses available to play, loads of upgrades to purchase for your vehicle, and even the odd virtual pet or two. Here's what it looks like in motion. Feel like giving it a go? You can grab an early build of the game on Android right now, for free, on the link below. [G…

Hands-on with Motorsport Manager, the super slick game of motoring management

Hands-on with Motorsport Manager, the super slick game of motoring management

I'll get this hands-on preview off to a flying start by saying the following two things; 1. This hands-on is longer than most.2. That's mostly because I didn't want to stop playing. The game is still a little way out from being released, and with this TestFlight build I played there were a handful of very minor tweaks to be made, but these trifling issues aside, I don't think I've played a deeper, better looking, more compelling management game than Motorsport Manager in years. I waffle on enough in my preview, so click play below and check it out.…

Hands-on with Rush Horizon, the endless-racer for nineties arcade fans

Hands-on with Rush Horizon, the endless-racer for nineties arcade fans

AppSpy was first on the scene for coverage of Rush Horizon, and with good reason: the game looked like a slice of sun-drenched arcade racing in the promo materials we were sent. Now that I've been hands-on with the game, I can confirm that Rush Horizon absolutely delivers on its promise of nostalgic-yet-modern arcade racing, inspired by the gaming greats from the eighties and nineties. Rad Racer, Out Run, Hang-On, Ridge Racer: there's a bit of everything in here, and since this is an endless-racer, there's a spot of Temple Run mixed in too. Rush Horizon is currently in soft-launch, here's my early look at the game.…
