In our efforts to ensure you're always reading the best content here on AppSpy, we've decided to start off 2019 with a whole bunch of lists. These are going to tell you the best games in every genre on the App Store, to make sure you're not missing out on any of the awesome experiences that mobile gaming has to offer.

We're going to start things off by checking out the best looking games that you can download right now from the App Store. We've included some shiny video so you can gawp at the games before you buy them, and some download links so you're just a click away from getting to play.

If you think we've missed anything off the list then do let us know in the comments section at the bottom of the article. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Asphalt 9: Legends

The first of two racing games to make it onto this list. This is the most recent entry in the Asphalt series, and it really shows. And it's not just the car models and streets, everything here is painted in arcade-bright hues that are going to leave you with a big smile all over you face.

Where Asphalt 9 loves to show off its pixels, Monument Valley 2 is a far subtler experience. Every edge here is soft in just the right way, and the combination of rich blacks and gorgeous pastel colours makes it a real treat for the eyes.

Another game with a completely unique art style. This one is like a series of paintings that you need to manipulate to solve puzzles. Sometimes though you're just going to look at the vistas the game offers up with a mix of joy and awe spreading across your face. Doesn't hurt that it's also one of the best games you can grab from the App Store.

The second racer on the list does things a little differently. It aims for realism instead of the endless blue skies and nitro-glow of Asphalt, and it hits the mark spectacularly. Honestly, this one's like carting around a high-end PS3 game with you, that's how good it looks. Oh, and it's an incredible game to boot.

Last but not least we come to this gem. There might be more technically advanced games on the App Store now, but none of them manage to capture the easy charm of Oceanhorn. It builds you a world that you want to explore, because you want to see what other beautiful things it offers for your eyeballs.
