Branching Narrative's newly released Deathtrap Dungeon is a digital adaptation of Ian Livingstone's classic Fighting Fantasy gamebook. It stars one of the UK's most versatile working actors, Eddie Marsan, and it's out right now for iOS and Android.

It's said to lend itself well to turn-based couch co-op, what with its branching storyline and many tricky decisions to be made. If you have no prior experience with games like this, a decent comparison might be Netflix's Bandersnatch, though Deathtrap Dungeon obviously has a greater level of depth to its core mechanics.

The original version launched all the way back in 1984 and sees you attempting to survive the Trial of Champions. This takes place in a trap and monster-filled labyrinth, so things obviously grow quite dangerous in no time flat.

"We're really excited to be able to release the game across all these platforms, to give as many people as possible the chance to experience Ian Livingstone's fabulous story for themselves", said Co-founder of Branching Narrative, Matt Spall. "The game offers a wonderful escape from reality and can bring together family and friends to engage in a fun and entertaining adventure. Faithful to the original book, the story and artwork are family-friendly, yet still build plenty of suspense to engage and surprise".

Deathtrap Dungeon is available for purchase now over on the App Store and Google Play as a premium title priced at $4.99.
