The newest instalment of the Fort Forinthry story will be landing in Runescape on April 10th. Unwelcome Guests will introduce new monsters, a powerful new skill to unlock, and the return of an old fan-favourite character as you investigate the threat of an undead hoard.

Carrying on from the previous instalment, Murder on the Border, the titular Fort finds itself increasingly at threat by a giant mob of undead who are patrolling the perimeter. It is down to you and your new Slayer Master, The Raptor, to fight back the hoard and investigate where the danger stems from. Spoiler alert, it probably has something to do with Zemouregal, the new necromancer you will encounter.

Unwelcome Guests will introduce four new slayer creatures for you to tackle; the Fetid Zombie, Bound Skeleton, Risen Ghost, and Armored Phantom, the latter sounding like it could be an interesting design. As you take down these undead foes, you will earn Slayer Trophies that will grant you buffs and a rare drop of a new two-handed magic ability.

As fun as all this sounds, there are some restrictions, when aren’t there? The biggest one is the most obvious for Runescape fans; Slayer is a members-only skill, therefore, you will need to be a subscriber to take part. It costs $10.99 a month, not a fee to cough up lightly, so if you are new, try it free for a bit first, the update will still be around.

Secondly, as will all Fort Forinthry updates, construction skill plays a big role in the story. In this update, you will build a Guardhouse that will confer you Slayer skills such as additional damage and increase Elite monster spawn rates. As such, you will need a Construction skill of 50 and a Slayer of 10 to partake.
