Gameloft lifts the lid on upcoming endless-runner Spider-Man Unlimited

With the Amazing Spider-Man 2 game still fresh in our minds, Gameloft’s announcement of its new endless-runner Spider-Man Unlimited came as a bit of a shock. While 'runner' is certainly the easiest shorthand for this new Spidey game, a more accurate description of the action would be endless-swinging-crawling-punch-and-runner. Spider-Man Unlimited lets you take control of one of twenty different versions of Spider-Man. But, whether you are playing in the traditional red and blue suit, or The Boombastic Bag-Man, your goal of chasing down the hero’s iconic villains above the Manhattan skyline will remain the same. Featuring three different modes, Unlimited Mode, Story Mode, an…

Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past Review

While clearly released to serve as a tie-in to the impending movie, Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past is styled after the original comic series. As per the books, the assassination of a senator sets into motion events that bring about a dystopian future ruled over by massive robot Sentinels. You take control of Wolverine first. , who must schnickt his way through thug, goons, mutants, and mechanoids alike. As with classic 2D side-scrollers like Shinobi, you'll be leaping between…

Stealth puzzler Third Eye Crime: Act 1 creeping onto the App Store tonight

Third Eye Crime: Act 1 is a noir stealth puzzler that casts you as Rothko, a smooth talking criminal with the telepathic power to predict his enemies’ movements. Giving you the ability to see the path of Rothko’s pursuers certainly gives the thief an edge in his career of choice. Played from a top-down perspective, the game lays the puzzle out before you as you try and guide the criminal through the world to his target. This eliminates some of the guess work usually associated with such stealth titles, while also removing the need to memorise your enemies search patterns. Coming from Moonshot Games, a studio made up of former Bungie staff, Third Eye Crime is designed as a cinem…

Comic book racing game SXPD: The Rookie is coming to iPad this May

Blending a comic book story with fast-paced motorbike racing, SXPD: The Rookie is the new game from non-profit publisher OneBigGame. Directed by Earthworm Jim designer Dave Perry in collaboration with Little Chicken Games Company, SXPD’s gameplay draws inspiration from the classic ZX Spectrum game 3D Deathchase. Taking the handlebars of an SXPD police bike, you race through the streets of the new 52nd American state of New Royal, trying to take down outlaws with missiles and machine guns. The black-and-white 3D tracks that your bike speeds around could have fallen straight from a comic book panel, with occasional flashes of red and blue colour injecting some colour into the procee…

Tiny Thief gets magical new Bewitched chapter in latest update

Cutesy point-and-click adventure game Tiny Thief has just received an update which gives you access to a brand new chapter. Titled Bewitched, Tiny Thief's new level sees the King kidnapped by the Wicked Witch. Taking control of the pint-sized pilferer, it is your task to rescue him from her evil clutches. You can only fight fire with fire, however, so this episode has the little tea-leaf turning to the dark arts in order to fight off the witch’s spells. We really enjoyed Tiny Thief’s mix of platform and adventure elements. Its charming art style and clever puzzles earned it a strong recommendation, despite its relatively ease and brevity of the six original adventur…

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - The Official Game Review

We are willing to bet that Captain America: The Winter Soldier - The Official Game is not a direct translation of the source movie's plot. This is because so many of Cap’s iconic nemeses that appear in this game that, were the movie to follow the story, you would need to bring a sleeping bag into the cinema along with your popcorn The Super Soldier is now operating as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. under orders from Nick Fury. You must guide him and a small two man strike force into a…

The Cap is back on the App Store in Captain America: The Winter Soldier - The Official Game

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now out in cinemas. And, by a startling coincidence, Gameloft's official iOS tie-in game has just appeared on the App Store. Captain America: The Winter Soldier - The Official Game is a top-down smash-'em-up which places you in the role of Cap himself. The story, co-written by Marvel’s Christos Gage, sees the Captain battling a host of his iconic villains from his comic past, such as King Cobra, Taskmaster, and the Winter Soldier himself. To reach each villain you must battle past all manner of criminal thugs with little more than an overinflated sense of justice, a shield, and a squad of armed S.H.I.E.L.D operatives. Still, if thing…

Glorkian Warrior: Trials Of Glork Review

There is a childlike joy to Glorkian Warrior: Trials Of Glork, the new game from Pixeljam. Its pink, three-eyed alien hero is the kind of creation you would expect to pour from the mind of a talented preschooler. This is no doubt due to the influence of James Kochalka, the award winning comic artist behind the game’s art. Everything about the game oozes comic book charm - from the challenges set by the two power-suit wearing sisters, to the backchat between the hero and his Super…
